Ashley & Jim {the wedding day}

July 10, 2023

The historic Saluda Inn was recently restored to its former glory and as soon as you pull up to this stunning venue, you are captured by its beauty. I can’t think of a better place for Ashley & Jim to say their “I Do’s”!! Every room has its own style & personality and was quite the talking point of their family & guests. The rain has been abundant this year, so we discussed several options should their big day have rain showers. I think all of us were watching the weather like hawks leading up to the wedding day.

The morning of their wedding, I once again looked at the weather app to see that we were going to have to work around Mother Nature. So I packed my gear and headed towards the Inn early to look around while Ashley was at hair and makeup. Even though the rain was coming down and decisions were going to have to be made on whether the ceremony would be inside or out, the mood was happy & positive. Smiles were abundant!

As soon as Ashley arrived, we started to get ready to set up for the First Look. Jim couldn’t WAIT to see his bride! Just prior to Ashley coming down the elevator, Jim asked if he could wear his plastic funny bloodshot eyes. LOL. I said…”ok, but just for one pic before she shows up”. So much fun! Seeing them take those first glances just after Ashley walked up behind Jim made my heart smile! It was finally time for them to begin their lives as a couple and family.

As for the ceremony, the decision was to have it outside. So the chairs were set up and dried off and soon everyone would be handed an umbrella. I went to my bags and pulled out a ‘game day poncho’ which was just about as big as me, and suited up. The poncho was the best option to keep my cameras dry while capturing their special moments. And honestly…it was beautiful outside! In fact, everything was perfect!

While the ceremony was going on, Cielo Catering was preparing their dishes. The presentation was incredible!!! After the ceremony, we all headed back inside and down to the wine cellar. The tables were stunning. Each one had its own look to it. The reception consisted of several courses of dishes, conversation and laughs. Once it got dark out, the fire pit was lit and the party moved outside for the rest of the night until the newly wed couple ran through the arch of sparklers.

What an amazing day!! I am so happy for you Ashley & Jim!!! Thank you for having me capture such a special day! Thank you Beth & Donna for your amazing work at the Inn and helping to make their day run flawlessly!

All the very best! Enjoy!

Thank you for stopping by!
