How often is it that we get to photograph a wedding with snow on the ground here in the south? Not all that often! South Carolina has not had a white Christmas since 1963 and I must say it was really pretty. Then about a week before Andrew & Laura Anne’s wedding, another big snow storm came our way and this time the snow stayed….for days! Many people complained of cabin fever because it was difficult to get out and drive around and many just decided to make the best of it and have fun sledding and making snowmen. As the wedding day approached and the area was still shut down for the most part, there was a ‘little’ worry about how it would affect the wedding day. Laura Anne’s mom emailed me asking if I thought it would go away before the wedding and I said if not, I already had a plan to order a case of hair dryers and would go melt the stuff myself ๐ After I made the silly joke about hair dryers, I reassured her mom that either way we were going to have a fabulous day and still get amazing pictures. If anything, we would get the chance to get really pretty photos of everyone with the snow covered background. It definitely was cold taking pictures outside, but I was so impressed and thrilled how everyone went out and had a blast despite a few goosebumps.
Enough about the snow…it is time to talk about Andrew & Laura Anne! Andrew & Laura Anne are both graduates of Auburn University and that is where they met. They met tailgating at an Auburn Football game and then reconnected when their friends got engaged. Speaking of football, Andrew played at Auburn. Both of them are always so full of energy and have smiles that go on for days. When we did the engagement session last summer I got to see how much Andrew likes to have fun and goof around, so it was no surprise that ALL of his groomsmen were just as much fun. They were a blast to work with on the day of the wedding. As for the bridesmaids, it was so cool to know a good bit of them from either previous weddings I have shot OR having shot their wedding. So it was funny when one of the bridesmaids and I joked around about how she should know exactly what to do for pictures now that she has worked with me a handful of times.
After the ceremony everyone headed over to Zen downtown for the reception. The dancing was so incredibly fun to watch that I had a perma-grin on the entire night and even attempted to bust a few moves myself. At the end of the night I remember saying to my second photographer, “THAT was a very fun wedding!!”. Congrats Andrew & Laura Anne. It was such a pleasure working with you and getting to know you along the way. I am honored. Thank you so much to my amazing second photographer Leslie Kerrigan…I am thrilled to have you as part of the team!
