When I have a consultation with a new bride & groom I will stress over and over how much I LOVE engagement sessions and how very important they are to the overall wedding photography process. I love these sessions because it is a time for us to really get to know each other in a relaxed environment. This is a time to bring a couple outfits, a prop or two and a sense of adventure. The reason engagement sessions are so important is because it really allows the couple to get used to being in front of the camera and seeing how we interact during the shoot. We will get a lot of amazing photos while really having a blast.
I was exchanging a few texts with Lauren while I was waiting for them to arrive downtown in front of her spa. The River Falls Spa to be exact..which is fabulous! She said “John is struggling with the tandem bike and is muttering a few words out of frustration. We will be there shortly.”. So I waited patiently as she kept me updated on the progress. I think Lauren was a tad bit worried that this bike would make John short circuit and he wouldn’t be ready for the session. What I later realized was that despite trying to get this vintage bike ready to be used and struggling to change the tubes, the frustration came from a place of John really wanting the bike to be a part of the pictures. I thought that was pretty awesome being that he knew how important this was to Lauren…and well, him too.
Well might I say that the bike was THE highlight of the day!! We had more laughs in the middle of Main Street and probably entertained those dining outside at Soby’s. The bike is so heavy and not the easiest to maneuver, so it was rather comical watching them while trying to shoot. Every time I said, “ok, let’s turn it around and do it one more time…” John would reply “oh sure…this thing turns on a dime, no problem!”. Sense a little sarcasm in that? HAHA!! Thank you so much Lauren & John for such a fun day. I cannot wait for the bridal session and wedding day. It will be absolutely amazing!
Thank you for stopping by!
